White TapeFor agents: the 402 door
Where data and creativity meet administrative execution

Nationwide government issued permits.

Every permit a county issued is a contractor lead worth $10,000s in potential revenue: the address, the value of the work, and who is doing it. Searching is free. Ten rows free on a key. Then 3 cents a lead, by key or by wallet.

What you get

One schema. Every county. Read daily.

The same fields everywhere

Permit number, address, parcel, value, issue date, contractor, owner where lawful. Whether the county runs Accela, Tyler, or a clerk's spreadsheet.

Fresh while it matters

A permit is a lead for a season. Rows land the day the county publishes them, from the office's own feed or its own file, with the source file beside every row.

A free permit API, then 3 cents a lead

Ten leads free on a key every month. Then 3 cents each. A town is a few dollars a month for leads worth $10,000s in potential revenue. Agents pay per call with no account at all.

An American record

Requested from the office that issued it.

Every row comes from a permit office in the United States, asked one office at a time, cleaned here, and kept with its source file. Public records, by the public records law of each state, in one shape.

Fit

Who it is for.

For

  • A contractor who wants the jobs in his area this month, each worth $10,000s in potential revenue.
  • A marketer inside a plumbing, roofing, HVAC, electrical, or integration company.
  • An agency that wants a data layer it did not have to build.
  • An agent that buys rows by itself, through the 402 door.

Not for

  • Anyone who wants a dashboard. It is an API and a search box.
  • Anyone who wants a salesperson. There is none.
  • Anyone who needs a private record. We serve what the county already makes public.

Questions

What people ask.

Is this legal?

Yes. A permit is a public record. We request them the way each state's public records law allows, and we serve only what the county already makes public.

How fresh is it?

As fresh as the county. Where an office has a feed or a portal, rows land the day it publishes. Where it sends a file, rows land the day the file does. Every row carries the day it was read.

What if my county is not on yet?

The search tells you. We hold what we hold, and we say so before any payment. Ask for your county and it moves up the list.

Can a program pay without an account?

Yes. Call with no key and the API answers 402 with the price. A wallet pays in USDC, the call is made again, the rows come down. The standard is x402; the page for it is whitetape.io/402.
